According to an IRNA reporter at the commemoration service site at the courtyard of the late Imam Khomeiniˈs mausoleum, the ceremony was held in the presence of the heads of the three branches of power, the state and military officials, a large number of people form all walks of life, and representatives of different religions and foreign countries in Iran.

Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei speaking at the event

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution gave an address at the event, experts of which are as followsˈ

** Those (Presidential Election candidates) who speak with the people today should promise what they are capable of doing and what the people need, and to take advantage of the capacities of the Constitution wisely and cunningly.

** Addressing the candidates: Speak in a way that if next June the recorded tape of your todayˈs address would be played you would not feel ashamed; make such promises that if some people would pursue the matter, you would not be urged to say that some people did not permit us to keep our promises and thatˈs why we did not do so.

** The enemies of this nation forget the December 30th (Dey 9th). Those who assume there is a silent majority opposed to the Islamic Republic system have forgotten that a huge population have been pouring into the streets on February 11th (Bahman 22nd) each year, chanting the ˈDown with USAˈ slogan every year.

** The enemies intend to turn these elections into threats against the Islamic system, while the elections are great opportunities for the Islamic system.

** The leader of revolution said that in upcoming elections each vote to any of the candidates is a vote not only to the Islamic Republic, but also the confidence vote to the elections authenticity and apparatus.

** The elections are the manifestation of all three beliefs of the Imam, and must also be our beliefs: the manifestations of self confidence, believing in peopleˈs will, and trust in God.

** Enemies hope the elections would be cold, or to launch sedition in post-election era, as they did after the 2009 landslide elections.

** Our roadmap is the same ideals of our deceased grand Imam (P), the same ideals based on which the former backward, humiliated Iranian nation has been turned into the prestigious, pioneer Iranian nation.

** Many infrastructure facilities have been constructed in this country thanks to the blessings of the revolution; if we would compare ourselves with the Iran during the oppressor former regime these privileges would be highlighted, but if we would compare our country with the ideal status, then there is still a long path to pave.

** The Imam believed in (the power of) the Iranian nation; he crystallized the deep belief of the people which had been concealed under the ashes of those who merely sought material incentives and thus the Iranian nation became a model for resistance and farsightedness.

** The Iranian nation has emerged victorious throughout the past thirty years; the nation revised both its path and its incentives and God, too, assisted (the nation) and as a result the dependent Iran turned into the independent (Islamic Republic of) Iran.

** Our gracious Imam had three major beliefs resolutely, bravely and resultantly: belief in God, belief in people, and belief in self.
