Photos: Iran launches optimized destroyer

Iran launched a modernized destroyer into water on Tuesday in southern Bandar Abbas Port in a ceremony attended by top military officials. The destroyer dubbed 'Bayandor' has been repaired and renewed since 2011.

Commander of Iran's Army Major General Ataollah Salehi, Iran's Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari and other Iranian top military and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) officials joined the event.

The destroyer is 83.3 meters long and 10 meters long. It is 23 meters high and weighs over 1135 tons.

8000 parts of the destroyer were indigenized, 3200 ones were repaired, 2500 ones were changed, 170 parts were fundamentally repaired and over 98 optimized systems were installed on the destroyer.

Installing and launching weapon fire control system, 76 mm cannon, 46 mm cannon and land-to-land missile launcher system as well as unifying fire control and weapon control systems are the most important measures carried out on the destroyer for deterrence purposes.


Iran to launch new submarine

Iran will inaugurate a mid-class submarine in the current Iranian year (started on March 21), said Iran's Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyar.

The submarine dubbed 'Fateh' (Conqueror) will be launched in coming months, Sayyari said.

He also said Flotilla 26 of Iranian Navy is patrolling in northern Indian Ocean and will move in Bab Al-Mandeb and Red Sea.

He further added that the flotilla's missions lasts for 3 months.
