Last September, conservative Iranian filmmaker called Iranian cinema “A whorehouse.” Farajollah Salahshour, a filmmaker with close ties to hardline circles in Iran, said Iranian actresses are on par with Angelina Jolie, and that Iranian cinema needs an international prostitute to continue its activities.
Salahshour made the comments at that time in response to the Iranian media reports about a producer’s efforts to recruit the well-known American actress in his latest movie.
"The Iranian cinema is a whorehouse. Aren't pictures of artists published day and night? When our women take pride in having half-naked pictures of themselves online, this means that they’re nothing short of an Angelina Jolie."
Salahshour's provocative words at the time resulted in protests from some of the actors. Now according to Mehr News Agency, 13 actresses have filed a complaint against Salahshour with the culture and media court.
In addition, an author in the city of Mashhad has filed a complaint with the court claiming that Slahshour has stolen the story of his film about Prophet Yousef from his book.
