Mir Hossein Mousavi and Zahra Rahnavard, the Iranian opposition leaders being held under house arrest, were allowed a visit from their children on the occasion of the Iranian New Year.

The Kaleme website reported on Thursday that the two leaders were in general good health, according to their children, and that the meeting once again took place under heavy security measures.

This is the third time that Mir Hossein Mousavi and Zahra Rahnavard are ushering in the New Year under house arrest. Mousavi's peer, Mehdi Karroubi, is being held under similar conditions in another location, and while his wife, Fatemeh Karroubi, was released from the house arrest, he remains incarcerated.

Mousavi and Karroubi have been accused of sedition by the Islamic Republic establishment for challenging the 2009 presidential election, in which they both ran as candidates.

The events led to mass protests, which the government quelled with severe violence and widespread arrests.

The government has not officially charged the leaders being held under house arrest but they have been effectively cut off from the public, and their respective families face severe persecution for attempting to relay the slightest news about them to the media.
