Photos by Masoud Mirjalili, Islamic Republic News Agency

The central Iranian city of Yazd is among the favorite destinations during new year holidays.Yazd is the capital of Yazd Province in Iran, and a centre of Zoroastrian culture. The city is located some 175 miles southeast of Isfahan and has a population of over a half million. Because of generations of adaptations to its desert surroundings, Yazd is an architecturally unique city.

Some of the historical houses in the central Iranian city of Yazd have been converted to bed and breakfasts. These magnificent houses offer the travelers a taste of the old times in a very relaxing and calm setting.
