Here are some of the "hopeful" and perhaps "not so hopeful" candidates for Iran's Presidential Election which is scheduled to be held on June 14. The registration of candidates for Iran's 11th presidential election started on Tuesday and ends on May 11.
According to Mehr News Agency, 62 hopefuls registered for the election on the first day. Five of the registered candidates are well-known political figures, namely former nuclear negotiator Hassan Rohani, former housing and urban development minister Mohammad Saeedikia, former vice president for scientific affairs Sadeq Vaezzadeh, former health minister Kamran Baqeri-Lankarani, and former MP Mostafa Kavakebian.
According to the Constitution, the Guardian Council is tasked with vetting election candidates.
