Persian Language Symposium: This Weekend in NYC

IAAB, in collaboration with directors of Persian language schools, will hold it's first Persian Language Educators' Symposium this weekend in New York City.

Topics to be discussed include:

Keynote speakers include:

Joy Kreeft Peyton

Dr. Joy Kreeft Peyton is a Senior Fellow at the Center for Applied Linguistics (CAL) in Washington, DC. She is a founding member and leader of the steering committee for the Alliance for the Advancement of Heritage Languages (, hosted at CAL. The Alliance is dedicated to the preservation and development of proficiency of speakers of languages other than English (in those languages) and documentation of programs dedicated to developing proficiency in those languages.

Shahnaz Ahmadeian

Shahnaz Ahmadeian works currently as a Persian program coordinator and instructor at San Diego State University. She received her Masters degree in Policy Studies in language and cross cultural education from San Diego State University and is currently a PhD student in the joint Doctoral program in Education offered by Claremont Graduate University and San Diego State University with the emphasize in teacher training and professional development. Ms. Ahmadeian has been teaching beginner students at Iranian School of San Diego (ISSD). She Co- Authored the Persian Beginner one and two books that were published in the fall of 2012. She is currently the Co-Director of STARTALK Multilanguage Teacher Training at San Diego State University.
