The report indicates that Khosro Kordpour was sentenced to six years and Mossoud Kordpour to three and a half years by the Mahabad Revolutionary court.

The report indicates that the brothers will appeal the decision.

Reporters Without Borders had issued a statement about its concerns over media oppression in Iran that highlights the government's actions against the Kordpour brothers.

Six Iranian MPs had also sent a letter to President Hassan Rohani, asking that he make every effort to assist the Kordpour brothers in the service of justice.

Kosro Kordpour was the executive director of the Mokrian news agency, covering human rights news in Kurdish regions of the country.
