Iranian President Hassan Rohani discussed his administration's first 100-day report on the national broadcasting network. Rohani criticized the former administration for leaving many major national stocks at alarmingly low levels. "For example, wheat silos in one of the provinces only had a three-day supply," he said, instead of the acceptable level of a three- to four-month supply.

He said the government's most immediate action has been the "supply and storage of basic goods across the country."

He added that on the day he took office, there was only 12.8 trillion rials in the national treasury, and at the end of the month the government had to pay 28.7 trillion rials in salaries.

Rohani said his administration took over a battered economy with over 40 percent inflation. He said his administration has managed to rein in inflation and is hoping to bring the rate down to 35 percent in the coming year.

He stressed that the main cause of the country's economic woes has been lack of foresight in economic policies implemented by the Ahmadinejad administration.

Rohani added that his administration has been able to control the price of medicinal drugs and patients can now meet their needs at reasonable prices.

The Iranian president also referred to the opening in the nuclear negotiations, adding that the framework of sanctions against the country has been shaken.

Rohani stressed that he is still committed to all his election promises and added that his administration is working towards a Charter of Citizens' Rights.

He stressed that under his administration, all ethnic and religious minorities are enjoying greater freedom.

Rohani maintained that his government's policy is to keep government interference in cultural activities to a minimum. He listed the recent lifting of a ban on books and writers as a sign of this policy.

He added that his government has relieved the security atmosphere of the country but acknowledged that it still has much work to do in all areas.
