Persepolic FC veteran footballers played a friendly match against the seven-time European champion AC Milan at Tehran's famous Azadi Stadium. AC Milan played a better game and defeated Persepolis 3-1.
AC Milan veteran soccer players visited Ameneh Nursery in Tehran on Thursday morning before their friendly game started. There they met the orphans of Ameneh Nursery and spent time with them (see photos)
Close to 70, 000 came to watch players like one of Iran's best midfielders, Mehdi Mahdavikia famous two-footed thundering striker Karim Bagheri and not to forget Persepolis's best defender Pejman Jamshidi. For the Rosoneri's it was the all time great Paulo Maldini who played 24 years for AC Milan in Italy's Seria A and defensive midfielder Gennaro Gattuso and Daniele Massaro who played 300 games for Milan.
The Rosoneris came out strong and scored immediately with Massaro less than a minute in the game to make it 1-0. Then Iran equalized with a great strike by Emamifar to equalize at intermission. In the 2nd half Milan played much better and with Christian Lantignotti, and Stefano Eranio.
The match was played for charity benefits as both teams are donating their earnings to various children's charity organizations.
