Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to meet Iranian President Hassan Rohani for the first time this week, reportedly armed with an offer to supply missile systems and build a second nuclear power reactor.

Rohani is set to meet Putin on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Kyrgyzstan on Friday.

Rohani and Putin were expected to discuss "working together in the nuclear energy sphere" and "questions of military technical cooperation" at the summit in Bishkek, Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday.

Also on the same day, the Kommersant business daily reported that Putin will offer to supply Iran S-300 air defense missile systems as well as building a second reactor at the Bushehr nuclear plant.

Putin will make significant concessions to Iran by offering to supply Tehran with five sophisticated S-300 ground-to-air missile systems, Kommersant reported, quoting a source close to the Kremlin.

The source also said that Russia would offer to build a second reactor for the Bushehr nuclear plant.

Rohani is scheduled to leave Tehran for the Kyrgyz city of Bishkek on Thursday to attend the two-day summit.

This will be Rohani's first foreign diplomatic mission after he took office on August 4.

High-ranking officials from member and observer states will participate in the summit.

The SCO is a Eurasian political, economic and military organization which was founded in 2001 in Shanghai by the leaders of China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

Iran, Afghanistan, India, Mongolia, and Pakistan have an observer status in the organization.

Rohani is scheduled to deliver a speech at the summit and hold talks with a number of senior officials on the sidelines of the meeting, including Russian and Chinese presidents.
