Iran international striker Reza Goochannejhad has signed a contract to join Al Kuwait from Charlton Athletic for an undisclosed fee on Wednesday. He flew out to Cairo where the Kuwaiti team holding a training camp to join rest of the players.
Ghoochannejhad scored the sole goal of the Iranian football team in the 2014 World Cup in the match against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Iranian-Dutch striker has never played outside of Europe before, but after the World Cup he followed Ashkan Dejagah's footsteps to join Persian Gulf clubs.
Earlier this week, Dejagah joined the Qatari club Al Arabi from Fulham for a fee of £5 million, signing a four-year contract.
Ghoochannejhad, whose nickname is "Gucci", began his career with Dutch club Heerenveen in 2005. Then he had spent some years in Go Ahead Eagles, Emmen and Cambuur.

In 2011 Gucci joined Belgian side Sint-Truiden, where he spent two years scoring 18 goals in 31 appearances. His good performance at Sint-Truiden caught the eye of Standard Liege and the Les Rouches signed a three and a half contract with him.
On 30 January 2014, Ghoochannejhad joined Championship side Charlton Athletic on a two-and-a-half-year deal, becoming the second Iranian after Karim Bagheri to play for the Addicks. Over the six month in London based club Gucci scored one goal in 17 appearances.
