Source: Tehran Times

President Hassan Rouhani said on Wednesday that Iran is showing 'heroic flexibility' and as Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has said 'humiliating flexibility' and surrendering to big powers is forbidden.

Rouhani was indirectly referring to the ongoing nuclear talks between Iran and the big powers (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany) which have produced an interim nuclear deal and the sides are seeking to strike a final and comprehensive deal, ending more than 10 years of nuclear dispute between Iran and the West.

The president who was addressing a gathering of people in Shahrekord, the capital city of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province, said the great Iranian people would no longer be "influenced" by economic "sanctions" and military "threats".

He also said his administration's foreign policy is 'different from the past', an indirect reference to the foreign policy adopted by his predecessor Mahmoud Ahmadinejad who was in power from 2005 to 2013 for two consecutive terms.

The president also said his 'government of prudence and hope' has taken preliminary steps in making reforms in foreign policy, economic, cultural, and social areas.

Rouhani took office in August 2013.

He added that compared to the last year, there is more "economic stability" which is the most important basis for investment.

Commenting on the Israeli war in the Gaza Strip, the president said that the Iranian people support the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip who resist and counter against the Zionist regime.
