Iranian Vice President for Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Majead Ansari announced that impeachment session against Reza Farajidana, the Science Minister, is scheduled to be held on Wednesday.

Ansari expressed hope that the majority of MPs would vote against the move to unseat the minister and provide him with another chance to stay in office.
He went on to say that the academic community is satisfied with the minister's performance, adding that he has created "positive" changes during his time in office.
Cancelling scholarship of some PhD students, returning students who have black marks on their records to universities and the mechanism to appoint chancellor of universities were the reasons for MPs' decision to impeach the minister.

According to the constitution, the impeachment motion should have at least 10 signatures on it before it can be delivered to the presiding board.
And the minister must appear in the parliament to answer MPs' questions within 10 days after the receipt of the motion, and then the impeachment motion will be put to a vote.
