Honoring a young woman who gave life to others in her death

Payvand.com - A tragic plane crash in Tehran on Sunday August 10 that took the life of 37 people onboard. But unknown to many is how this crash also claimed the life of a young Iranian woman on the ground as well. Moments before the crash, Hadiseh Ghasemi, 21, a Tehran University student, was riding a taxi in the area. This is when the driver heard the sound of the plane and noticed it is coming down and could possibly hit his taxi. While attempting to get away from the path of the plane and in the confusion caused on the road, the taxi collided with a big truck.

Hadiseh was severely injured during the accident and was later declared as brain-dead by the physicians at the hospital. This is when the tough decision came for her parents who had became aware that few days before her death, Hadiseh had registered as an organ donor. Knowing they had little time to waste, the parents discussed their daughter's situation and decided they must honor her wish.

As a result of this good will, 7 main organs of Hadiseh, including her heart, kidney and liver, along with another 7 parts of her body were transplanted to patients waiting for a savior.

Hadiseh has now become an Iranian heroine, for saving many lives in her death; and her parents are being praised for their compassionate act.

Rest in peace Hadiseh Ghasemi!
