Winners of Iran's Book of the Year Awards announced

The winners of the 31st edition of Iran’s Book of the Year Awards were announced on Saturday. The awards were presented during a ceremony at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall. Expediency Council Chairman Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani and a large number of cultural figures and officials attended the ceremony. 

The Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance is the main organizer of the Book of the Year Awards.

The following is a list of the winners in various categories:

Islamic Studies

“Byzantium and Islam: Age of Transition” written by Helen C. Evans (U.S.) 

“Method, Structure, and Development in al-Farabi’s Cosmology” by Damien Janos (U.S.)

“Metalwork and Material Culture in the Islamic World: Art, Craft and Text” by Venetia Porter, Mariam Rosser-Owen (England)

“A Selection of Holy Quran’s Suras” selected and calligraphed by Ebrahim Sultan (Iran)

“Al-Hukm ul-Ataiyata le-ibn Ataullah il-Iskandari” by Muhammad Saeid Ramadan Al-Batuti (Syria)

“Amid Memory and Power; The Land of Levant in the end of Reign of Bani Umayyah and the Beginning Bani-Abbas” by Antoine Bouret (France)
