Abdullah Azzam Brigades claimed to have carried out the bomb attack
A Lebanese Army general said Majid died of kidney failure.
His group -- a Sunni militant group with purported ties to Al-Qaeda -- has claimed responsibility for a series of terrorist acts in the Middle East, including a 2010 attack on a Japanese oil tanker in the Persian Gulf and rocket strikes into Israel.
The Abdullah Azzam Brigades also claimed to have carried out the November bomb attack against the Iranian Embassy in Beirut that killed 23 people, including a diplomat.
Majid was also wanted in Saudi Arabia.
Lebanese officials completed a DNA test to confirm Majid's identity.
