Italian entrepreneurs to foster trade ties with Iran

Source: Tehran Times

A group of Italian businessmen and economic entrepreneurs will travel to Iran in the near future in order to promote business partnerships and long-term cooperation with their Iranian counterparts.

The Italian Institute for Asia and the Mediterranean, known as ISIAMED, and the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Italy, in cooperation with the Italian diplomatic authorities have agreed to carry out a multisectoral mission of Italian businessmen in Tehran, January 24-27, 2014.

The business delegation will be accompanied by a group of MPs who are planned to meet with Iranian government authorities.

The objective of the mission is to take advantage of this favorable phase of relations between Iran and the international community in order to seize new opportunities for promoting business partnerships and long-term cooperation with their Iranian counterparts, according to the ISIAMED website.

Italy's relations with Iran, both economic and political, are now growing strongly. Italy, at present, is in the first place among the EU member states in terms of overall trade with Iran.

In November, Iranian ambassador in Italy Jahanbakhsh Mozaffari called Iran a highly secure country in the region and urged Italian companies to invest in the Iranian market.

Italy-Iran Joint Chamber of Commerce Chairman Rosario Alessandrello has expressed hope that lifting the international sanctions against Iran would lead to a surge in the bilateral trade.

In October, Trade Promotion Organization of Iran's Director General for European and American Trade Abdolhamid Asadian said over 70 Italian companies are planning to enter the Iranian market and a similar process has begun in other European countries.
