A delegation of British lawmakers has arrived in Iran -- the first such visit since diplomatic ties between London and Tehran collapsed in 2011. The four-member delegation is being led by Jack Straw, a member of parliament from Blackburn, England.

Straw last visited Tehran in 2003, when he was serving as foreign secretary.

Britain closed its embassy in Tehran in late 2011 after Iranian hard-liners attacked the building during protests against Western sanctions on the Islamic republic.

The Iranian Embassy in London was also shut as tensions soared.

Relations have improved since President Hassan Rohani, who is seen as a relative moderate in Iran's system, took office in August.

Britain is among the six world powers who negotiated an interim deal on the Iranian nuclear program with Tehran in November.
