Iranian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham says the United States' rhetoric about a military option against Iran are "undiplomatic" and in violation of international law and the UN charter.

Afkham's remarks on Saturday came in response to U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, who said that the military option is still on the table if Iran does not adhere to an interim nuclear deal reached between the Islamic Republic and the major powers in Geneva on November 24, 2013.

"If Iran does not execute the commitments it made with Western powers, the military option of the United States is ready and prepared to do what it would have to do," Kerry told Al Arabiya on Thursday.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry official said, "It seems that certain groups, who are opposed to the Geneva agreement and are mainly involved in spreading violence in the region, have unconstructive influence on U.S. government officials."

She reiterated Tehran's position that "Iran has never been and will not be after producing, stockpiling, and using nuclear weapons."

Earlier on the day, the deputy chief of the general staff of Iran's armed forces warned that Iran's response to any U.S. military action would be very severe.

"All U.S. 'illegal interests' in the region will be completely destroyed" in case it carried out any military attack against Iran, Brigadier General Massoud Jazayeri said.

The remarks by Kerry came just four days after the Geneva nuclear deal went into force, and inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency closely watched and verified the implementation of the deal on the part of Iran.
