Poland overpowered Iran 3-0 to register a second win against the Asian champions in their last 2014 FIVB Men's Volleyball World League match in Gdansk on Saturday to collect half of the points possible from their four confrontations against Iran after they lost their first two matches in Tehran last week.
The Polish won three straight sets (25-23, 25-20 and 25-17) in the Saturday match, which was the two teams' last of their four confrontations.
Poland, who won the title of the World League in 2012, beat Iran 3-1 last night.
But in their first and second World League matches, the Asians won the Polish 3-1 and 3-0 in Tehran last Friday and Sunday.
After their Sunday victory, Iran qualified for the final round of Group 1 in Florence, Italy, and stood at the top of their pool with 19 points.
And despite their last two defeats, the Iranians have still kept their top stand in their pool A with 19 points from 12 matches (with a sets ratio of 1.211 and points ratio of 1.052). The Italians stand the second with 19 points from 11 matches and with a sets ratio similar to the Iranians, but a lower points ratio (0.992). Poland stand third with 17 points from 12 matches and Brazil are last with 14 points from 11 matches.
In their earlier World League confrontations this year, Iran had won two and lost two matches against Brazil.
Iran had also gained similar results in their four matches against the Italians with two losses against the Europeans in Rome and two wins in Tehran.
The 2014 FIVB Volleyball World League is the 25th edition of the annual men's international volleyball tournament, played by 28 countries from 23 May to 20 July 2014. The Group 1 Final Round will be held in Florence, Italy.
