We are delighted to announce that the 2014 HAND Foundation Scholarship has been made to Kian Samaee for his doctoral studies in economics at The University of Pennsylvania. Kian earned his MS in Economics from Sharif University of Technology where he was ranked second out of 30 students, and was awarded a fellowship from the Iran National Foundation for “Exceptional Talents” during the completion of his masters degree.
This is the third HAND Foundation Scholarship awarded to a student at The University of Pennsylvania. Behrang Kamali and Zahra Mohammadi were awarded scholarships as well in 2012 and 2011, respectively. We are excited to have such a strong group of fellows in the excellent economics program at The University of Pennsylvania, where HAND’s 2013 Economics Forum was hosted by Behrang and Zahra.
Mr. Samaee will receive the 16th scholarship that HAND has awarded over the last 7 years. All scholarship recipients remain part of our community as HAND Fellows, and we congratulate our earliest fellows as they now graduate and enter the job market.
We are thrilled to announce that Maryam Farboodi has accepted a one-year postdoctoral position at the Bendheim Center for Finance at Princeton University; there she will take on the position of Assistant Professor of Economics one year later. The Bendheim Center for Finance focuses on interdisciplinary research in finance, primarily from a quantitative, or mathematical, perspective.
