Alireza Ardekani joins Farhang Foundation as its new Executive Director, helping to lead the thriving organization as it continues to expand and break new ground
LOS ANGELES, CA, June 26, 2014 -- Farhang Foundation is excited to announce the appointment of Alireza Ardekani as Executive Director. Mr. Ardekani joins Farhang Foundation after an illustrious career in the media and entertainment industry, most recently as a senior executive at NBC.
"We are beyond excited to have found Mr. Ardekani to help lead Farhang Foundation in our next phase of growth," said Ali Razi, chairman of Farhang Foundation. "Not only is he an accomplished strategic leader in the for-profit sector, but he brings an unparalleled passion for Iranian art and culture."
With more than nineteen years of experience working for global brands such as Disney, Miramax, and NBC, Mr. Ardekani has led innovative organizations, overseen multimillion dollar projects, and launched worldwide marketing campaigns. Born in Tehran, Iran, Mr. Ardekani grew up in Switzerland and is an avid world traveler. His deep love for Iranian art, culture, cinema, and history stems from his extensive, firsthand explorations of Iran.
"I'm thrilled beyond belief to be joining Farhang Foundation ," said Mr. Ardekani, "it seems my whole career I've been honing skills that can now be put to the service of my true passion. I feel so privileged that every day I get to work on celebrating and promoting Iranian art and culture for the benefit of our community at large."
Mr. Adrekani takes over as executive director following Bita Milanian's departure from Farhang Foundation to join global communications leader Genband as its Senior Vice President of Marketing Communications. Ms. Milanian served as the executive director of Farhang Foundation from 2010 until the Spring of 2014, where under the leadership of the Farhang Board of Trustees, she presided over the growth of the foundation and helped the board execute many groundbreaking projects including the Iranian Studies Initiative at USC, the historic Cyrus Cylinder exhibition at the Getty Villa, and to forge lasting partnerships with important cultural and academic institutions across Southern California and beyond.
"Farhang Foundation's Board of Trustees and management team are grateful to Ms. Milanian for her tireless dedication and countless contributions" said Mr. Mark Amin head of the Farhang Nominating Committee. "Finding a replacement for Ms. Milanian has not been easy as she wore many hats, and was such a great contributor to our organization. However, in Mr. Ardekani we have found a natural strategic leader with a proven track record of excellence, who is primed to lead Farhang Foundation in our next phase of growth."
Farhang Foundation was thrilled to discover hundreds of experienced and impressive applicants interested in becoming the foundation new executive director. Additionally, the Farhang Board would like to thank Atta Tarki and the Ex-Consultants Agency, who offered pro-bono services to expand the search even further. With the help of Ex-Consultants Agency who sourced and screened over 1,400 high-achieving potential applicants, Mr. Tarki and the Farhang Nominating Committee conducted in-depth interviews with over 40 qualified and interested candidates who had demonstrated exceptional achievement in their careers as well as a keen interest in Iranian art and culture. Both Ex-Consultants Agency and the Farhang Nominating Committee unanimously agreed that Mr. Ardekani was the best candidate to become Farhang Foundation's next executive director. Farhang Foundation is also grateful to Ali Fakhari, a member of Farhang's Generations Council, for introducing Mr. Tarki to help with this search.
