The chief of the UN's nuclear watchdog says a landmark nuclear deal between Iran and six world powers is being implemented as planned.

IAEA chief Yukiya Amano

According to a copy of his speech seen by Reuters, Yukiya Amano, the director-general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), told the body's board of governors on March 3 in Vienna that the measures implemented by Iran "represent a positive step forward, but much remains to be done to resolve all outstanding issues" regarding Tehran's nuclear activities.

Amano also said the IAEA remained more than $2 million short of the funds it needs for its extra work in verifying that Iran is living up to its part of the six-month accord.

Iran struck a deal with the United States, France, Russia, Germany, Britain, and China in November to curb its nuclear program in exchange for easing of sanctions.
