In anticipation of the next round of nuclear talks, Iranian Parliament has issued a statement urging the country's negotiators to guards Iran's "nuclear rights."
Iranian media report that in a statement read in Parliament today, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and the negotiating delegation are asked not to relinquish Iran's nuclear rights, including uranium enrichment, nuclear research and the promotion of nuclear energy, and the heavy-water reactor in Arak.
The announcement calls for "the preservation of [Iran's] nuclear achievements" and warns against "the psychological efforts of certain powers" to divert the negotiations.
The statement also stressed that the foreign minister and the delegation will be held accountable by Parliament for guarding the country's "nuclear achievements."
In a speech on Sunday, Iranian President Hassan Rohani made reference to the attacks against his government's negotiation approach, saying: "We will not retreat but on the political level we will take steps to promote awareness and take a step toward transparency."
