Iran reaches five-step deal with atomic watchdog

Source: Radio Zamaneh

Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) have reached an agreement for taking five practical steps by August 25, which include Iran providing crucial data on nuclear "tests in vast dimensions."

Iranian media report that there was significant progress at a meeting between Iran and the UN nuclear watchdog.

A joint statement says the first step deals with providing data regarding strong explosions, which were reportedly unresolved in the last meeting between the parties. The second is the provision of information on alleged neutron research. The third involves the inspection of centrifuge research. The fourth involves access to manufacturing workshops for centrifuge rotors and the fifth is to devise a resolution regarding the Arak Reactor.

Iran continues to maintain that it has always fully cooperated with the IAEA according to its commitments under the NPT.

The IAEA delegation, headed by Deputy Director General Tero Varjoranta, arrived in Tehran on Tuesday and has held meetings with the Iranian delegation headed by Iran's ambassador to the agency, Reza Najafi.

The talks with the IAEA run separately from the nuclear negotiations between Iran and the 5+1 but they are closely linked, as parties rely on IAEA reports in their negotiations.
