The U.S. military says an Iranian drone that Tehran described as an improved replica of an unarmed U.S. aircraft captured in 2011 is an inferior copy.

Pentagon spokesman Colonel Steve Warren was asked about the issue after Iranian state television aired footage of what it said was a test flight of the unarmed drone.

"There is no way it matches American technology," Warren told a news briefing on November 12.
