San Francisco - Introducing ZIBA Style (http://www.zibastyle.com), a curated online marketplace for locally inspired luxury goods from around the world-the most unique goods a traveler cannot find at home.  Founder Yasmin Sanie-Hay, an M.I.T. graduate and Harvard Business School student, traversed 70 countries to source products for her new online venture that allows customers to buy directly from designers in faraway destinations such as Beirut, Bishkek, and Benin.  ZIBA Style hand selects bespoke and one-of-a-kind pieces with a story.  The apparel, jewelry, home and tech accessories would not be available otherwise-apart from a plane ride to the country of origin.  Shop by country, designer, category or editor’s picks.  Prices range from $35.00 to $3,500.00, with complimentary worldwide shipping.

A traveler since birth, Sanie-Hay had a journey of discovery along the ancient Silk Route during the 2007 Mongol Rally charity car race, when she drove a 1-litre engine car 10,000 miles from London to Ulaan Bataar, Mongolia.

Sanie-Hay says, “Much of the world is becoming homogenous, yet when I drove through these countries off the beaten path, I observed a level of local identity and variety in architecture, clothing, and broader design, that had not (yet) succumbed to the ‘mass made.’  The quality, creativity and timelesness of these products was something I had encountered in countless other countries, yet these goods and their craftsmanship seem to be disappearing."

ZIBA Style is a conduit to a larger audience craving discovery of cultures and their creativity, while simultaneously helping designers flourish beyond their local markets.

In a world where luxury has too often come to be associated with how much a person spends, ZIBA Style hopes to help redefine that meaning.  Rather than examining a price tag, it is about discovering a rare and high quality item that no one else can find, and when a ZIBA Style customer walks down the street, heads turn.

A brilliant example is award-winning designer of Nigerian-Ghanaian descent, Anita Quansah, whose contemporary brand of jewelry maintains the ethos of her roots, while appealing to the cosmopolitan woman.  She creates bespoke statement neckpieces made from semi-precious stones, rare African beads and feathers, vintage, heirloom and reclaimed materials.

Another impressive designer is OTT, from Dubai.  OTT’s Moira Lluvia Caftan ($840.00) is inspired by the traditional silhouette of Khaleeji caftans, fused with vibrant colors and hand embroidered with the Middle Eastern eye motif, to provide defense against the evil eye.  The brand represents an eclectic mix of styles combining timeless vintage eastern glam with a twist of quirky girlishness.

As a champion of locally-inspired luxury, ZIBA Style aims to transport the customer to the location where the item is made. An antithesis to blind consumerism, ZIBA Style serves as a portal to awaken the imagination-to unlock the global stories held in each piece.

So just who is ZIBA?  “Ziba” is a woman whose name signifies beauty.  She is a woman of international mystery, strong and sophisticated, and not trend-driven-she writes about her travel adventures and design discoveries under the ZIBA pseudonym (http://www.ziba-style.com/blog).  Where in the world will she be next?

Join her to travel the world in style.  ZIBA Style.
