Super heavyweight weightlifter Behdad Salimi from Iran claimed a gold medal in the Asian Games on Friday. Olympic champion Salimi completed a hat-trick of Games records in the class with a 210kg snatch and 255kg clean and jerk for an aggregate 365kg in the final event of the weightlifting competition.
"I wanted to break my own record, but I'm very happy to win the gold medal," Salimi said after adding a second Asian Games title to the 2011 world championship and 2012 Olympic gold medal.
Ai Yunan of China lifted 190kg in snatch, 235kg in clean and jerk and won the silver with an overall total of 425kg.
Taiwan's Chen Shih-chien took the bronze medal with 191 kg in snatch, 233kg in clean and jerk and combined total of 424 kg.
Najmeh Khedmati won Iran's first gold medal in the women's 10m air rifle on Monday.
Wushu exponent Mohsen Mohammadseifi also seized a gold medal on Wednesday.
Mohsen Shadi Naghadeh won a gold medal at the men's single sculls race of the rowing on Thursday.
Mohammad Daneshvar claimed a gold medal in the men's keirin final on Thursday.
Some 9,500 athletes from 45 countries are competing at the Games, the world's second-biggest multi-sport event after the summer Olympics, with 439 gold medals in 36 sports up for grabs.
Iran has participated in the games with 276 athletes in 22 sports.
