TEHRAN - On Tuesday the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution pointed to bitter facts in certain regional countries including "savage" terrorist acts in Syria and Iraq, saying if any official does not see the hidden hands of enemies in these acts, he has deceived himself.
"If anybody does not see the hidden hand of enemies in these issues he has deceived himself," Ayatollah Ali Khamenei told Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in a meeting in Tehran.
The Leader also pointed to the current crisis in Yemen as an example of the numerous problems facing the Islamic world.
"The Islamic Republic's stance in regard to all countries, Yemen included, is to oppose foreign intervention," he asserted.
"Therefore, from our viewpoint, the way to resolve the Yemeni crisis is to stop foreign attacks and intervention against the country's people; and it is the Yemeni people who must decide on their country's future."
Erdogan headed back to Ankara immediately after the meeting.
The Turkish president's visit to Iran came despite huge criticism urging the cancellation of his trip over unfriendly remarks he had recently made about Iran.
Back in March, he accused Iran of seeking a Shia-dominated political hegemony over the Middle East, counting Tehran responsible for political developments in Yemen.
A few days ago, some MPs in a letter asked Rouhani to cancel Erdogan's trip.
Many MPs also demanded the Iranian president to give Erdogan a decisive response during his meeting with his Turkish counterpart.
