U.S. Greco-Roman coach Lindland praises Iranian wrestlers

The U.S. Greco-Roman coach Matt Lindland praised the Iranian wrestlers ahead of the 35th International Senior Freestyle, Greco-Roman and Pahlavani Wrestling "Takhti Cup". The top U.S. wrestler competing is 2012 Olympian Ben Provisor along with two other young stars, namely Ryan Mango and Brian Graham.

Takhti Cup is being held in Kermanshah, Iran, Feb. 12-13.

"I have personally participated in Takhti Cup in 1999 and won a gold medal," Matt Lindland told in an interview with

"I know Iran wrestling and I think your wrestlers are some of the best in the world," the 44-year-old coach added.

Lindland started wrestling at age 15. The highpoint of his career was when he represented the U.S. in Greco-Roman Wrestling at the 2000 Summer Olympics in the 69-76 kg weight category, winning the silver medal, followed by a Silver medal at the 2001 World Championships in Patras, Greece at 85 kg.
