Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Yukiya Amano is due in Iran on Thursday for talks on Tehran's nuclear program.
An informed source close to the Iranian negotiating delegation said Wednesday that Amano will visit Iran to receive the country's proposals on removing certain misunderstandings over the country's nuclear program, IRNA reported.
During his stay in Iran, the IAEA chief is expected to hold talks with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani.
Amano's visit to discuss Iran's nuclear program comes as Tehran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council - the United States, France, Britain, China and Russia - plus Germany are holding talks to finalize the text of a possible deal over the Islamic Republic's nuclear program.
Iran and the six powers extended talks over Tehran's nuclear program for seven days after the June 30 deadline expired on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, senior Iranian nuclear negotiator Abbas Araqchi said that certain gaps still remained between Iran and the P5+1 group in drafting the text of a final deal.
