Sajedeh Arabsorkhi was sentenced in absentia to one year in jail in July of 2013 for "propaganda against the regime".

She returned to Iran in September of 2013 to visit her sick father, reformist political figure, Feizollah Arabsorkhi, who was arrested and jailed after the controversial 2009 election protests.

Her appeal appeal of her sentence was denied and last July she was transferred to Evin Prison to serve it out. Her letters to her jailed father in 2009 following his arrest were regarded as evidence during her sentencing.
