President Hassan Rohani told a June 13 press conference that he is committed to ensuring the rights of all Iranians and 39-year-old Jason Rezaian's case is no exception.

Iran does not recognize dual citizenship.

Rezaian reportedly faces jail sentences of 10 to 20 years over the charges, which have been dismissed as groundless by the United States, The Washington Post, and rights groups.

He has been in Iranian detention for nearly 11 months.

Details of the case have been hard to establish due to the closed-door nature of proceedings before the Revolutionary Court that hears security-related cases in Iran.

But he is said to have appeared at least twice before that court.

Rezaian's mother said recently that Iran has charged her son for "reporting on a country that he loves."
