Harbourfront Centre Hosts the World’s Largest Iranian Arts & Culture Festival
Toronto, ON - Tirgan, the world’s largest Iranian arts and culture festival returns to the Harbourfront Centre in Toronto, Canada, this summer from August 20-23, 2015.
The festival’s ancient roots can be seen in a programme which showcases the tremendous ethnic diversity within Iran and celebrates the country’s music, dance, theatre, cinema, literature, visual arts and cuisine. The central theme of “Homeland” unites the festival programme of Tirgan 2015.
RECOGNISING OUSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT AND SUPPORTING THE ARTS
Tirgan is proud to announce that Ms. Homa Sarshar, the award-winning journalist and writer, will serve as honorary chair this year. She exemplifies outstanding achievement and embodies the festival’s mission of supporting the arts. Past Chairs include Anousheh Ansari, the “First Female Private Space Explorer & First Space Ambassador” and Dr. Reza Moridi, MPP for Richmond Hill.
The festival creates a cultural dialogue between the Iranian community and the global community at large. With over 130,000 visitors during the 2013 festival, Tirgan expects to attract 150,000 visitors this year. Guests can enjoy a variety of world class entertainment and activities for everyone: music and dance performances, film screenings, a children’s activity area, food fair and cooking demonstration, workshops and a bazaar.
