Book by Gareth Porter: Manufactured Crisis: The Untold Story of the Iran Nuclear Scar

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif says he is determined to end the "manufactured crisis" over Tehran's nuclear program.

Zarif wrote on Twitter on May 4 that the drafting of a deal between Tehran and six world powers curbing Iran's nuclear program in exchange for relief from economic sanctions was "moving forward."

But he added that "hard work" remained before a deal can be made and "new horizons" are opened.

The tweet comes two days after U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry condemned what he called "hysteria" from those who oppose such an agreement, namely members of the U.S. Congress.

Zarif, Kerry, and diplomats from Britain, China, France, Russia, and Germany are aiming to complete a deal that would guarantee Iran's nuclear activities are peaceful before a self-imposed deadline of June 30.

Iran has long insisted its nuclear program is only for peaceful purposes, mainly to produce energy.

A framework agreement was reached on April 2 in Switzerland after months of talks.
