TEHRAN -- The 9th edition of Cinema Verite, the Iranian international festival for documentary films, plans to review the contemporary society of the United States by screening a lineup of documentaries. The documentaries are scheduled to go on screen in a special section entitled "Reality or Dream", the Documentary and Experimental Film Center, which is the organizer of the festival, announced on Sunday.

"(T)Error" co-directed by Lyric Cabral and David Felix Sutcliffe is the first documentary to place filmmakers on the ground during a live FBI counterterrorism sting operation.

"(T)Error" premiered the 2015 Sundance Film Festival where it won a special jury prize.

Laurent Becue-Renard's "Of Men and War" is an immersive look at group therapy conducted at a California residential facility for young soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.

"Of Men and War" premiered in Cannes Film Festival in 2014.

Lydie Wisshaupt-Claudel's "Killing Time" centers on the Californian military base of Twentynine Palms, a transit point for very young Marines who stay there after returning from Iraq or Afghanistan and wonder how to "kill" time.

"Killing Time" won the grand prizes of the Paris-based Cinema du Reel Documentary Festival this year.

"The Seventh Fire" by Jack Pettibone Riccobono tells the story of a Native American gang leader on a remote Minnesota reservation, who is sentenced to prison for a fifth time.

The story of Mexico's drug lords who have terrorized the country is narrated in "Cartel Land" by Matthew Heineman. The film brought the best director award and special jury award for Heineman.

"The Case of the Three Sided Dream" by Adam Kahan is a humorous documentary with a hidden meaning about the life of the brilliant, blind Jazz musician, multi-instrumentalist, nose flautist, voice imitator and stirrer on American talk-shows, Rahsaan Roland Kirk (1935-1977) who, due to his breathing technique, could play three instruments at once.

A selection of long and short documentaries will be competing in this edition of the festival running from December 13 to 19 in Tehran.
