TEHRAN -- President Hassan Rouhani's top aide Hossein Fereydoun and Health Minister Hassan Qazizadeh-Hashemi have separately visited vocalist Mohammadreza Shajarian at Tehran's Kasra Hospital, Persian media reported.
Fereydoun, who is also Rouhani's brother, was at the hospital on Monday to convey greetings from the president to Shajarian, who was admitted to the hospital last week due to respiratory problems.
Fereydoun also met Shajarian's doctor, who briefed him about the treatment the maestro has received at the hospital.
Qazizadeh-Hashemi visited Shajarian on Tuesday and gave some medical advice to his doctor.
Shajarian faced a performing ban in Iran following his criticism of the Iranian government for the events in the aftermath of the presidential election in 2009.
In a presidential debate in 2013, Rouhani called Shahjarian "a cultural ambassador of Iran". In his campaign film, he also spoke about his deep interest in Shajarian's songs.
However, Shahjarian has not yet been allowed to perform in his homeland under Rouhani.
His Istanbul concert with Shahnaz ensemble set for September 4 was canceled as the organizer company Delavaz declared force majeure.
