In an interview with the U.S. television program "60 Minutes" broadcast on September 20, Rohani said Iranians still distrust the United States, but that the deal should improve relations.

"The distance, the disagreements, the lack of trust will not go away soon," Rohani said, adding "I believe we have taken the first steps toward decreasing this enmity."

Rohani also suggested that Tehran would be interested in a "prisoner swap" with the United States. Iran is holding several U.S. citizens, including Washington Post journalist Jason Rezaian.

Iran is seeking the release of Iranian citizens from U.S. prisons, some of whom were convicted of violating the sanctions.
