Some Thoughts on Donald Trump...

Commentary by Kambiz Zarrabi

The "folk hero", the visionary Donald Trump, during his speech on economic policy on Monday, attacked Obama and Hillary Clinton(!), for "giving 150 billion dollars, plus another 400 million in ransom, to the world's biggest sponsor of terrorism, Iran."

  1. What 150 billion? 90%+ of that money is not even being held in the US for us to be "giving" Iran anything, as though it is the American taxpayers moneys!
  2. That money was not America's money or in the US Treasury, it was the money other countries owed to Iran, which was frozen under US pressure. It was Iran's own money!
  3. Only a very small portion of that money has been released to Iran thus far, mostly because of continuing US pressure to delay its release, in violation of the signed agreement with Iran.
  4. The 400 million was not "ransom" money for "hostages' release". It was a part of a delayed package deal between Iran and the US, that included the exchange of the 4 "prisoners" for the 7 Iranians held captive in the US under similar charges, plus several other things, and the payment was the initial portion of 1.7 billion dollars Iranian funds withheld since 1978; money that the US owed Iran for almost 40 years!
  5. Who has branded Iran as the world's Number One supporter of terrorism, and why? Is it because it supports Hezbollah and Hamas? Are these groups terrorists because Israel says so? Whose interests does this buffoon think he is serving?
  6. And, what did Hillary Clinton have anything to do with any of this?
  7. Is Mr. Trump who has repeated these ridiculous charges stupid, just uninformed, or callously cavalier in making Zionistic inspired statements and, understandably, no one in the US media, Right, Left or Center, dares to challenge this idiot or a run a fact-check on his reckless comments?
