Iconic Persian songwriter Mohammad Heydari Passes Away in Exile

Payvand.com -- Mohammad Heydari, one of the iconic Persian songwriters and santur players, passed away today in Los Angeles, due to the cancer. Mr Heydari was 79.

The melody of many Persian hit songs in 1970s and 1980s such as "Namehrabuni", "Soghati", "Bia Benevisim" and "Sobhet Bekheir Azizam" have been written by Mohammad Heydari. His works have been mostly performed by Elaheh, Hayedeh, Mahasti and Moein.

According to Pejman Akbarzadeh's "Persian Musicians", Heydari for almost two decades was the professor at the National Music Conservatory in Tehran and trained many successful musicians such as Esmail Vasseghi.

Shorty after 1979 Islamic Revolution, Heydari left his homeland and since early 1980s continued his artistic activities in California.
