On Thursday, Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli provided details of a security operation conducted by police and forces of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) near the border with Pakistan earlier this week.
Rahmani Fazli said the Iranian forces discovered and destroyed a 40-meter-long tunnel dug at a depth of 20 meters, which the terrorists had planned to use for their attacks.
On Wednesday, Khash Governor Mohammad Akbar Chakerzehi told IRNA that Iranian security forces had managed to arrest a group of saboteurs in the border city of Khash in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan.
He said the group was seeking to carry out acts of terror and sabotage against police and security centers.
Iranian forces have recently engaged in clashes with terror groups, thwarting their terrorist activities on the border and within the country, arresting several of them and confiscating large amounts of explosives and bomb-making materials.
On July 6, four Iranian border guards were killed in an ambush by terrorists in Sistan and Baluchestan, which borders Pakistan and Afghanistan.
In June, a police officer and five members of the so-called Jaish ul-Adl terror group were killed in the Khash region of the same province.
The same month, Iran's Intelligence Ministry said it had foiled a major Takfiri-Wahhabi plot to carry out bomb attacks in the capital, Tehran, and other provinces and arrested suspects.
