INCC head has reported on acceleration of Iran's hand-woven carpet exports to world market by return of traditional customers including the US.
Head of Iran National Carpet Center (INCC) Hamid Kargar said "despite unfavorable export figures for the Iranian hand-woven carpet last year, a significant growth was achieved at the beginning of the new Iranian calendar year (began March 20) promising a better future for economic activities."
The official highlighted that in the first month of the current year (spanning March 20 - April 19) more than 234 tons of hand-woven carpet worth more than 11 million dollars were exported to target markets indicating a twofold increase both in volume and value as compared with the same period a year earlier.
Accordingly, only about 113 tons of Iranian carpet worth nearly 5 million dollars had been deployed to world markets in the same time period last year.
"A great portion of carpets in the current year have been sent to the US covering nearly seven million dollars," highlighted Kargar outlining resumption of exports to America as a promising sign."
Despite the fact that in the past few years, Iranian hand-woven carpets were not allowed to enter the US territory, implementation of the JCPOA (nuclear agreement) and lifting of restrictions have allowed room for the launch of carpet exports to America as the world's largest buyer of the product.
