A young Iranian politician received the "Young European Leaders," a reward for his political commitment. Councilman in Switzerland, emeritus member of one of the largest political party of the country, Darius Azarpey (Dariush-e Azarpey in Farsi) won the prize, while just ascending to the Vice Presidency of the Iran-Switzerland Chamber of Commerce.
Having lived in Iran for 10 years, Darius Azarpey ventured into politics in Geneva. Already Councillor at the age of 21, he directed political campaigns at national level and has an important place in the local and national media.
Darius Azarpey is well known for his determination, his liberal vision of society as well as its negotiating capacity.
He describes Iran, where he returns every year, as his home. Defender of Human Rights, Darius Azarpey is president of the International Assembly for Human Rights. Despite of its function within the NGO, he strongly defends the Iranian Government.
Darius Azarpey is now leader of the campaign no-Billag in Geneva, promoting the abolition of compulsory taxes paid to the Swiss state television.
