Iran seeking to develop start-up jobs: Information Minister

Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi, Iran's Minister of Information and Communications Technology, has said that his most ambitious plan is to develop start-up businesses in Iran, which is highly sought by the young population.  "Providing infrastructure for the development of employment is at the top of our agenda, which would be fulfilled by supporting start-up businesses," Azari Jahromi told Press TV on Tuesday (Watch the interview).

Waiting for a good year

According to the minister, Iran's Ministry of Information and Communication Technology plans to remove barriers to the start-up businesses through facilitating issues related to tax, insurance, investment and copyright.

The Islamic Republic of Iran with the population of more than 80 million is experiencing an unemployment rate of nearly 13 percent in 2017.

Azari Jahromi said that "the administration has committed itself under the Sixth Development Plan to create 950,000 jobs annually from which 100,000 jobs should be created in the IT field."

He went on to say that the development of the information technology in Iran opens up an opportunity for the youth, who are residing abroad, to bring their creativity and ideas into their own country.
