ATR to deliver 5 aircraft to Iran within months

Deputy roads minister said an airplane purchase contract will be inked with ATR aircraft manufacturer in a few days and Iran will receive five passenger planes in three months.


Deputy Minister for International Affairs at the Ministry of Road and Urban Development Asghar Fakhrieh Kashan said representatives of ATR are slated to visit Tehran on Wednesday to review the final draft of a 400-million-dollar contract with officials at Airline of the Islamic Republic of Iran (Iran Air)

"Upon being reviewed on Wednesday, the final draft of the agreement will be signed between Iran Air (Homa) and the French-Italian aircraft manufacturer," he continued.

The official underlined that the deal with ATR would be worth 400 million dollars and covers purchasing of twenty ATR 72 aircraft which has 70-passenger configuration.

Fakhrieh Kashan also maintained that, under the provisions of the agreement to be signed on Wednesday, five ATR passenger planes will land in Iran by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (to end on March 20, 2017).

He went on to emphasized that the upcoming meeting will mark the final round of negotiations with ATR which is a French-Italian aircraft manufacturer headquartered on the grounds of Toulouse Blagnac International Airport in Blagnac, France.

"After delivery, ATR products will be exploited in domestic routes across the country," concluded deputy Iranian roads minister.
