TEHRAN - A collection of 21 works by prominent sculptor Parviz Tanavoli as well as works by four of his students from the Niavaran Atelier are on view at Tehran's Boom Gallery in an exhibit titled "Parviz Tanavoli and the Niavaran Atelier".
Sculptures from his series Heech and The Wall and some other works he created
in the various periods of his career have been selected for the showcase, the
gallery announced in a press release published on Sunday.
His students Mona Paad with two works, and Ramin Jamshidi, Hurad Gorji and Alireza Masumi, each with one sculpture, are participating in the exhibit.
Having called the exhibit, a "special" one at an opening ceremony on Friday, Tanavoli said that except for six works on view, all other items belong to the Boom Gallery, having been purchased at several world auctions.
Tanavoli said that he told the gallery owner that he would like four of his
students to accompany him in this exhibit.
"I wanted to show the relation between the teacher and the students, and the continuity between generations of sculptors in Iran at this exhibit," he added.
A beautiful catalog of the artworks on display at the exhibition was unveiled at
the ceremony. Art expert and former TMCA director Alireza Sami-Azar has written
an introduction to the catalog.
Scenes from "Parviz Tanavoli: Poetry in Bronze", a documentary by Canadian director Terrence Turner, is on screen for the visitors at the exhibition, which will be running until January 26, 2018.
Boom gallery is located at No. 11, West Armaghan St., Vali-e Asr Ave.
